Abstract

One of the concerns in recent years has been environmental issues, particularly those related to globalization. The challenges of globalization have prompted various groups within society to address them, especially in higher education institutions that have implemented Green Campus programs. Green Campus is a system of research, education, and community service that is environmentally friendly and involves campus residents in environmental activities that provide positive benefits for the environment, society, and the economy. The parameters for establishing a Green Campus include campus policies on environmental management, such as efforts to save water, electricity, and paper, the presence of Green Open Spaces (RTH), the availability of environmentally friendly buildings, a safe and clean environment, the creation of a smoke-free and pollution-free campus, and more. This study aims to further efforts to create a pollution-free campus environment. To reduce pollution, this research examines alternatives to reduce the use of motor vehicles that produce pollution, such as promoting the use of bicycles or walking. More specifically, this study will focus on assessing pedestrian activities around the campus area. It is hoped that providing adequate pedestrian pathways can reduce students' dependence on motor vehicles, improve air quality, and facilitate access within the campus. This research is conducted to design an efficient pedestrian system on the Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) campus. Various methods are used in this study, including an initial analysis combining Stated and Revealed Preference surveys, planning and simulating pedestrian pathways using the PTV Vissim application, and evaluating them using the Pedestrian Level of Service (LOS). It is expected that by using this approach, it will be possible to develop efficient solutions to support the sustainability of the campus environment.
