Abstract

The used of fungus Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. was for pest control aphids, made it was easier for farmers to control the pests with the used of fungus entomopatogen, but in this case, the fungus B. bassiana would have an impact enable on parasitoid communities. There were two species of parasitoid ffom the family Aphidiidae were Trioxys sp. and Lipolexis sp. (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae). It known that of parasitoid species parasitized againts aphids Aphis gossypii Glover (Homoptera: Aphididae). This experiment was aimed to determine mortality rate and median lethal time (LT50) of both parasitoids. An experiment to assess pathogenicity of B. bassiana isolates on immature stage aphid parasitoids Trioxys sp. and Lipolexis sp. has been carried out at Entomology Laboratory, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Campus, Ogan Ilir, from March to August 2009. Experimental method was designed for this experiment. For each treatment, a number of 106 B. bassiana conidias per ml were applied. A drop of water contained circa 10 pl was applied topically. Distillated water was used for control treatment. Parameters were measured by Chi-square Test. The Results showed that after B. bassiana application mortality of both parasitoids were not reached signiflcantly compared to control treatment. highest mortality rate was found for Trioxys sp., i.e. 6 % (n= 50), and control only 10% (n= 50). For Lipolexis sp.,i.e 4 % (n= 50), and control only 16% (n= 50). Number of adult of Trioxys sp. and Lipolexis sp. which formed the highest occurred in the B. bassiana treatment for the species Lipolexis sp. (96%). To immature stages which has dead, it not show any symptom of the fungus attacked for without showed characteristics, such as the body becomes pale, smaller size, and harden up like a The mummy, and there was no mass of fungal spores on the surface of the insect's body. Once planted in the media G Y A, ffom 14 mummies who has died just overgrown fungus 3 (6%) B. bassiana, while ffom 21 mummies who has died just overgrown fungus 2 (4%) B. bassiana and the other was contaminated by air fungi and bacteria. The result of research known that when the death occurred after 7.66 days in treatment B. bassiana for Lipolexis sp. species, whereas for species Trioxys sp. occurred after 9.74 days. Based on the result of research could be concluded that isolates B. bassiana with a lethal concentration of 106, was not bad impact to immature stage of Trioxys sp. and LipoIexis sp.. LT50 value for Lipolexis sp. was 7.66 days and Trioxys sp. 9.74 days as well.
