Abstract
The objective of the research was to investigate and to compare the diversity of ground arthropods and the population of them on three vegetable plants vegetation in highland. The research was conducted from August to October 2004 in Kecamatan Dempo Utara, Pagaralam. The experiments was conducted using survey method with purposive sampling. The ground arthropods were collected by the pitfall trap and flooding square. The research investigated the ground arthropods population and the diversity species of them was analized by Shannon index. The level of domination species was analized by Berger-Parker index and mean level of species using a Pielou Index. The result showed that carrot vegetation has higher species diversity level than cabbage and chilli vegetation. About 671 ground arthropods population found on cabbage vegetation which are consist of 13 families, and 15 species. Those insects consist of 4 pests species, 7 predators, 1 parasitoid, and 3 decomposer. On chilli vegetation were found 765 insects consist of 16 families, and 18 species i.e. 4 pests species, 8 predators, 3 parasitoid, 3 decomposer, and 1 pollination. On carrot vegetation ground arthropods population were found 797 insects consist of 18 families, and 21 species i.e. 6 pest species, 8 predators, 3 parasitoids species, 3 decomposer, and 1 pollination. The diversity of the ground arthropods on the (Supervised by cabbage, chilli and carrot vegetation were related to insecticide application. No insecticide application on carrot vegetation caused the diversity ground arthropods on carrot vegetation was higher than the cabbage, chilli vegetation. The ground arthropods were found 22 species, i.e. 6 species of them were pests i.e. Blatta orientalis Linnaeus (Blattaria:Blattidae), Grylloptalpa grylloptalpa Burm (Orthoptera:GryllotaIpidae), Murgantia histrionica Hahn (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), Myzus persicae Sulz (Homoptera.Aphididae), Podisus maculiventris Say (Hemiptera:Pentatomidae), and Selenopsis invicia Buren (Hymenoptera: 8 species of them were predators i.e Argyrophylax nigrotibialis Baranov (Diptera:Tachinidae), Chelisoches morio Fabricius (Dermaptera: Chelisochidae), Chlaenius spp (Coleoptera:Carabidae), Cicindela spp (Coleoptera: Cicindelidae), Gryllus mitratus Burm (Orthoptera:Gryllidae), Harmonia octomaculata Fabricius (Coleoptera.Coccinelidae), Pardosa spp (Araneae: Lycosidae), Pardosa birmanica Simon (Araneae:Lycosidae). 4 species of them were parasitoids i.e. Elasmus sp (Hymenoptera:Elasmidae), Propicroscystus mirificus Subba-Rao (Hymenoptera:Pteromalidae), species x (FIymnoptera:Drynidae), Telenomus cyrus Nixon (Hymenoptera: Sclionidae). 3 species decomposers i.e Anaplolepis sp (Hymenoptera: Formicidae), Entomobrya socia Denis (Collembola:Entomobryidae), species y (Scolopendromorpha:Crytopidae), and 1 species pollination Apis mellifera Linnaeus (Hymenoptera:Apidae).
