Abstract

Peripheral nerve conduction interference is part of critical illness polineuropathy. It is incommon in critical illness patient. Discribe as conduction disorders in motoric and sensoric nerves. This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated with peripheral nerve conduction interverence in post critical illness children. A cross-sectional study at M.Hoesin hospital child health departement from January-September 2024. There were 74 subject who met the inclusion criteria. The inclusion criteria are children aged 1 month to 18 years and declared to have completed intensive care in the PICU. The risk factors evaluated included gender, age, length of PICU, use of mechanical ventilation, sepsis, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), use of steroids, use of vasopressors, use of TPN and use of neuromuscular blockers. There was a significant relationship between age (OR = 12.756 (IK95% 3.719- 43.749; p = 0.000) and length of PICU (OR = 5.906 (IK95% 1.289 - 27.054 ' p = 0.022) with peripheral nerve conduction interverence in post critical illness children. Gender, usage of mechanical ventilation, sepsis, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), usag of steroids, usage of vasopressors, usage of TPN and usage of neuromuscular blockers had no significant relationship with nerve peripheral conduction interverenc (P > 0.05). Age < 5 years and length of PICU stay ≥ 7 days are risk factors peripheral nerve conduction interverence in children after critical illness care in the pediatric intensive care unit.
