Abstract

The most common symptoms in patients with cervical cancer are bleeding, pain during intercourse, and vaginal discharge. In advanced stages, symptoms will develop into low back or lower abdominal pain due to tumor pressure in the pelvic region laterally to ureteral obstruction, even to oligo or anuria. The results of the assessment found the same nursing problems in the three patients managed, namely chronic pain. Chronic pain management is pain management, one of which is pharmacological therapy and nonpharmacological therapy. The method used is descriptive qualitative research method with a case study approach to the three cervical cancer managed patients. The purpose of the study was to provide an overview of comprehensive nursing care in cervical cancer patients with chronic pain nursing problems by providing interventions in the form of pain management and collaboration with guided imagery nonpharmacological therapy. Providing guided imagery therapy can reduce the pain scale of cervical cancer patients because guided imagery therapy will affect the mood to relax so that pain will decrease. The decrease in pain scale measured by Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) in the three managed patients was reduced by about 2-3 points after 3 days of guided imagery therapy with a duration of 15-20 minutes given one hour before the administration of analgesic therapy. This shows that guided imagery therapy can be used as a therapy for pain reduction. This therapy can be done anywhere as it is cost-effective and efficient without any adverse effects on the patient.
