Abstract
The study discusses the influence of the energy transition and blue economy on real GDP per capita of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) member countries using the secondary data from World Bank and the International Energy Agency during the period of 1990 to 2022. The analysis technique used is panel data regression with Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method using the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) approach, which allows the analysis of short-term and long-term relationships between variables. The results of the study show that energy intensity is negatively marked and has a significant influence on GDP per capita in the short term, while in the long term it is marked positively and significantly. CO2 emissions have a positive and significant influence on GDP per capita in the short and long term. Renewable energy consumption has proven to be able to increase GDP in the long term, emphasizing the importance of transitioning to clean energy sources to support sustainable economic growth. In addition, aquaculture production has a positive effect on GDP per capita in the long term, demonstrating the potential of the blue economy sector in boosting economic prosperity in coastal countries that depend on marine resources.
