Abstract

Introduction: Gout arthritis or hyperuricemia is one of the non-communicable diseases that ranks second after hypertension as a family health issue in Indonesia. This disease results from the deposition of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals in the joints and tissues, which can damage joint structures and cause pain. Joint pain often appears suddenly and can affect the quality of life of patients, especially by limiting daily activities. One approach to mitigate this risk is to address pain first through non-pharmacological therapies, such as cinnamon compresses. Aims: This study aims to provide an overview of the clinical implementation of family nursing care through the use of cinnamon compresses to alleviate chronic pain in clients with gout arthritis. Method: The method used was descriptive qualitative with a case study approach involving three families who had members suffering from gout arthritis. Results: The assessment results showed that the three clients in the managed families had the same nursing issue, which was chronic pain. After receiving nursing care with cinnamon compress therapy, the pain complaints of the three clients decreased. Conclusion: Cinnamon compress therapy can be effectively applied to reduce pain scale clients with gout arthritis.
