Abstract

Background: Caesarean section can cause pain in the incision area caused by disruption of physical mobility and fulfilment of basic needs. One non-pharmacological therapy that can be used to reduce pain in post-caesarean section patients is to carry out early mobilization therapy. Objective: To implement early mobilization therapy to reduce the pain scale in post caesarean section women. Method: The method used was qualitative research with a study case approach on 3 post caesarean section patients who experienced pain. Results: There were five nursing problems found in the three post caesarean section patients with acute pain as the main nursing problem. The result of giving the non-pharmacological intervention namely the implementation of early mobilization carried out for 3 days with the duration of 10-15 minutes and given after 4 hours of analgesic administration showed that there was a decrease of 3 to 4 points on the pain scale of the three patients. Discussion: The results of the study showed that pain was the main complaint experienced by the three post caesarean section parients, so the main nursing diagnosis of acute pain could be established. Early mobilization is a non-pharmacological intervention that has an important role in reducing pain by eliminating the patient’s concentration on the pain location, or surgical area, reducing the activation of chemical mediators in the inflammatory process which increases the pain response as well as minimizing pain nerve transmission to the central nerve so that it decreases the pain perception. There was a decrease in pain intensity from severe and moderate pain to mild pain after the implementation of early mobilization. Conclusion: The implementation of early mobilization is effective in reducing the pain experienced by post caesarean section patients.
