Abstract

This thesis report as result of a research with topic the improvement of dielectric strength in soybean oil-impregnated kraft paper with SiO2 and CQD fillers with concentration of 0.01 wt%. The material sample used is solid insulating kraft paper with a thickness of 0.08 mm and a size of 30 mm length and 30 mm width. Kraft paper samples were impregnated with soybean oil with SiO2-CQD filler under time variations of 24, 48, 72, 96, and 120 hours and the other one of sample were impregnated with soybean oil without SiO2-CQD filler as control sample. Using needle-plate electrodes with gap distance of 1 mm under high voltage alternating current application the partial discharge inception voltage and complete breakdown were measured. Alternating high voltage was used in the test with an increase rate of 100 V/s. The measurement result of PDIV with SiO2-CQD filler in each variation of immersion time increased by 2.694%; 7.684%; 8.814%; 10.571%; 9.280% compared without filler. Then, the measurement results of Vbd with SiO2-CQD filler in each variation of immersion time increased by 8.159%; 4.959%; 6.671%; 7.100%; 8.023% compared without filler. This shows that the PDIV and Vbd values increase when given SiO2-CQD fillers. This is possible because the SiO2 filler material has good dielectric strength and thermal stability, enhanced by CQD.
