Abstract
Farming was an important factor in economic growth in Indonesia and pineapple is one of the commodities that contribute to state income. In this study, researchers analyzed the income of monoculture pineapple farming and intercropping pineapple-rubber farming in Menanti Village, Kelekar sub-district, Muara Enim Regency. The objectives of this research were: (1) describe the characteristics of farming and explain the application of planting methods in monoculture pineapple farming and pineapple intercropping with rubber in Menanti Village. (2) Is the pineapple monoculture farming and pineapple intercropping on rubber farming in Menanti Village feasible or not if seen from the R/C ratio and B/C ratio. (3) How much was the opportunity cost in pineapple intercropping on rubber farming if farmers choose not to plant rubber in Menanti Village. It is hoped that the results of the research will provide an illustration of the form. This research was conducted in Menanti Village, Kelekar District, Muara Enim Regency and was carried out from January to March 2024. The research method used in this research was a survey and proportional random sampling method with a sample size of 40 respondents. The data used was primary data and secondary data. The results of this research were (1) The characteristics of farming in Menanti Village affect their daily farming activities. The characteristics of farming are seen from the type of farming, production technology, capital, marketing, constraints, management and culture. Pineapple farming was divided based on its planting method, namely monoculture and intercropping. Monoculture pineapple farming had an average number of shoots of 18,750.00/ha. Pineapple-rubber intercropping had an average number of pineapple shoots of 17,410.00/ha. The rubber shoots planted were mostly rubber shoots with the BPM 1 type with a number of rubber shoots of 607/ha. The existing production technologies include sickles, hoes, handsprayers and saws. Capital consists of fertilizer and labor. Marketing uses middlemen and the constraints faced are whitefly pests, pineapple wilt disease and expensive fertilizers and farmers carry out pineapple cultivation following previous farmers. (2) Monoculture pineapple farming and pineapple intercropping on rubber in Menanti Village are considered feasible and profitable to be cultivated. For monoculture pineapple farming, the R/C ratio was 4.7 and the B/C ratio was 3.7. Meanwhile, pineapple intercropping on rubber farming had an R/C ratio of 3.6 with a B/C ratio of 2.6. (3) The additional costs obtained if pineapple intercropping on rubber in Menanti Village if farmers choose not to plant rubber plants were Rp 4,267,096.
