Abstract
he Effect of Aerobicity and Wilting Time in Fermentation Process on Celulose, Lignin and Silica Content of King Grass Pennisetum purpupoides (supervised by ARMINA FARIANI) The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of aerobicity conditions and wilting duration on King Grass (Pennisetum purpupoides) silage using vacuum sealed and non-vacuum sealed fermentation methods, focusing on cellulose, lignin, and silica contents. The study was conducted from December to February 2024, with the silage production taking place at the Animal Husbandry Technology and Industry Department's facility, followed by analysis in the Nutrition and Animal Feed Laboratory of the Animal Husbandry Program. The experimental design employed was a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 2x4 factorial pattern, consisting of factors of aerobic condition (A1 non-vacuum and A2 vacuum) and wilting duration (0, 2, 4, and 6 hours). The observed variables included cellulose, lignin, and silica contents. The results indicated that the vacuum-sealed treatment significantly affected (P<0.05) the cellulose content, with average cellulose contents ranging from 23% to 29%. For lignin content, a significant difference (P<0.05) was observed with wilting durations of 4 and 6 hours, with average lignin contents ranging from 7% to 10%. Additionally, silica content showed significant differences (P<0.05) in all treatment factors, particularly in the vacuum-sealed treatment and 6-hour wilting duration, with average silica contents ranging from 1.4% to 1.68%. Based on the study's results, it coult be concluded that wilting treatment with the vacuum method and wilting durations of 4 and 6 hours effectively reduced cellulose, lignin, and silica contents in king grass (Pennisetum purpupoides) silage. Keywords: Aerobiosis, Wilting, Van Soest, Lignin, King Grass, Cellulose, and Silica.ARIANSYAH FAHMI JAYA, Pengaruh Faktor Aerobisitas dan Lama Pelayuan Pada Silase Rumput Raja (Pennisetum purpupoides) Terhadap Kandungan Selulosa, Lignin dan Silika (Dibimbing oleh ARMINA FARIANI) Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh aerobisitas dan lama pelayuan pada silase rumput raja (Pennisetum purpupoides) dengan metode divakum dan tidak divakum dalam proses fermentasi terhadap kandungan selulosa, lignin dan silika. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember sampai dengan bulan Februari 2024, pembuatan silase dilakukan di kandang jurusan Teknologi dan Industri Peternakan. Kemudian, dilanjutkan di Laboratorium Nutrisi dan Makanan Ternak Program studi Peternakan. Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola Faktorial 2x4 yaitu faktor aerobisitas (A1 tidak divakum dan A2 divakum) dan faktor lama waktu pelayuan yaitu (pelayuan 0, 2, 4 dan 6 jam). Adapun variabel yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah kadungan selulosa, lignin dan silika. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa perlakuan divakum memberikan perbedaan nyata (P<0,05) terhadap nilai kadungan selulosa, rataan kadungan selulosan yang didapat berkisaran 23-29%. Sedangkan pada kadungan lignin perlakuan lama waktu pelayuan 4 dan 6 jam memberikan perbedaan nyata (P<0,05) dengan nilai rataan kadungan lignin berkisaran 7-10%. Adapun nilai kandungan silika pada semua faktor perlakuan memberikan hasil yang perbedaan nyata (P<0,05) pada pelakuan divakum dan lama wakru pelayuan 6 jam, dengan nilai rataan kandungan silika bekisaran 1,4-1,68%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlakuan pelayuan dengan metode divakum dan lama waktu pelayuan 4 dan 6 jam mampu menurunkan kandungan selulosa, lignin dan silika pada silase rumput raja (Pennisetum purpupoides).
