Abstract

Banyuasin waters is one of the estuary waters located in South Sumatra Province. Banyuasin waters have potential waters for the fishermen. This study aims to obtain potential fishing areas analyzed using chlorophyll-a and SPL modis image data. This research was conducted in September 2017, located at Banyuasin Waters, South Sumatera. Chlorophyll-a analysis was conducted in Marine Oceanography and Instrumentation laboratory, Marine Science Study Program, FMIPA, Sriwijaya University. Prior to measuring the field, first interpretation of the image as the initial classification using supervised classification method. The coastal waters of Banyuasin, South Sumatera in September 2017 have sea surface temperature (SPL) values of 29.3 - 30.80C and a chlorophyll-a concentration of 1.474 - 4.741 mg / m3. Potential fishing zones have varying potential areas, fishing sites are in the eastern part of Sembilang National Park and adjacent to Bangka Island at coordinates 104057'26,66 "E - 10503'29,159" E and 202'23,364 "S - 2010'46,415 "S.
