Abstract

Introduction: Anemia could be effected by individual’s living behavior. There are some factors influence children’s anemic status, such as inadequate feeding and poor sanitation. These factors are included as indicators of clean and healthy behavior of living (PHBS) in household. The purpose of this research is to know if clean and healthy behavior of living in household could lessen the risk of having anemia among 5th grade students of SDN 13 Palembang. Method: This research is a cross-sectional study with total sampling using primary data from interview and hemoglobin examination. Population of this research are 108 5th grade students of SDN 13 Palembang. Eighty students of SDN 13 Palembang who met inclusion and exclusion criteria were chosen to be samples of this research. Result: Bivariate analysis using Chi-Square test showed that there were no significant relationship between using clean water and anemia (p=0,832), washing hands and anemia (p=0,443), using latrine and anemia (p=0,913), eradication of mosquito larvae and anemia (p=0,503), consumption of vegetable and fruit and anemia (p=0,646), physical activity and anemia (p=0,585), smoking and anemia (p=0,196), and clean and healthy behavior of living and anemia (p=0,307). Conclussion: Based on the results of this study concluded, there were no relationship between clean and healthy behaviour of living and its indicators and anemic status.
