Abstract

Penelitian ini menyelidiki peningkatan kekerasan material bushing trackplate Bucket Wheel Excavator (BWE) berbahan AISI 4340 melalui optimasi proses perlakuan panas (heat treatment) menggunakan pendekatan metode Taguchi. Mengingat bahwa bushing trackplate dalam aplikasi penambangan memerlukan kekerasan yang optimal untuk memenuhi spesifikasi kinerja dalam menahan beban dinamis dan gesekan, penelitian ini dirancang untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh parameter heat treatment termasuk media quenching, suhu austenitizing, waktu austenitizing dan waktu tempering terhadap kekerasan material. Data eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan panas yang diterapkan berhasil dengan mengaplikasikan parameter optimal, yaitu media quenching air garam, suhu austenitizing 925°C, waktu austenitizing 35 menit dan waktu tempering 2,5 jam, nilai rata – rata awal 33,9 HRC naik hingga mencapai 56,9 HRC, nilai tersebut mencerminkan peningkatan signifikan sebesar 67,84% dibandingkan dengan kondisi sebelum mengalami perlakuan panas. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa proses heat treatment yang dioptimalkan melalui desain eksperimen Taguchi secara efektif meningkatkan kekerasan bushing trackplate, sehingga memenuhi spesifikasi kinerja yang dibutuhkan dalam kondisi operasional yang dinamis.
