Abstract

THR is an arthroplasty technique that removes necrotic tissue from the hip joint and replaces it with a prosthesis. Globally, THR prevalence is increasing with various risk factors. In Indonesia, THR prevalence is 118.8 per 100,000 population per year, with a joint disease dominance in South Sumatra at 6.48%. This study aims to describe the characteristics of patients who underwent THR at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2023. This research is a descriptive study uses a cross-sectional design. The sample comprises all patients recorded as having undergone THR in the medical records of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2023 who met inclusion criteria, with no exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using univariate methods in SPSS 27. Forty THR patients were identified as the study sample. Sociodemographic analysis shows that the majority of THR patients were of productive age (65%), female (62,5%), and housewives (40%). The highest clinical factors were hypertension as a comorbidity (20%), hip fracture as the indication (45%), postoperative medical rehabilitation (65%), and postoperative ambulation within 3–12 weeks (67,5%).
