Abstract
Malnutrition during pregnancy may affect the future health of both mother and child. Malnutrition occurs when the body has an excess or deficiency of nutrients. Diet is a factor that can be modified to achieve optimal pregnancy weight gain. This study aims to determine the association between maternal diet quality index and gestational weight gain. This study has an observational analytic design with a longitudinal study approach. The sample of this study was 40 pregnant women in Palembang who followed the research procedure until the end. Research datas were obtained through questionnaire and 24-hour food recall for 7 consecutive days. The research data is analyzed with STATA and Nutrisurvey. Most of the study respondents were in the third trimester of pregnancy, 20-35 years of age, employed, primiparous, pregnant within ≥2 years apart, highly educated, with an income above Upah Minimum Provinsi, had a normal pre-pregnancy Body Mass Index, and took supplementation. Association between maternal diet quality index and abnormal gestational weight gain was not statistically significant (p-value = 0,414).
