Abstract
Stress urinary incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine caused by increased intra-abdominal pressure, such as during coughing or sneezing. Parity, particularly vaginal delivery, is one of the main risk factors suspected to affect pelvic floor muscle strength, thereby contributing to the incidence of SUI. This study aimed to analyze the association between parity and the incidence of SUI in women aged 25–45 years. This cross-sectional study involved 71 female respondents aged 25–45 years who had delivered vaginally at RS Bunda Demang Palembang. Primary data were collected using the QUID questionnaire to assess the incidence of stress urinary incontinence. Data was analyse using the Chi-Square test. Most respondents were aged 25–30 years (43.7%) and had a body mass index (BMI) in the overweight category (40.9%). The distribution of respondents based on parity showed that 53.8% of multiparous women experienced stress urinary incontinence, compared to 46.9% of primiparous women. However, the analysis showed that the association between parity and SUI was not statistically significant (p = 0.559; PR = 1.15; 95% CI = 0.518–3.375). No significant association was found between parity and the incidence of stress urinary incontinence in women aged 25–45 years. However, multiparous women tended to have a higher incidence of stress urinary incontinence compared to primiparous women. Keywords: Stress urinary incontinence, parity, vaginal delivery, reproductive-age women.
