Abstract

Stroke is the leading cause of disability in Indonesia. Post-stroke recovery is based on changes in the plasticity of the central nervous system that compensate for the loss of ipsilesional activity. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has emerged as a painless, non-invasive technique that can stimulate the human brain and aid post-stroke rehabilitation. This study aims to determine the clinical picture of stroke patients undergoing TMS therapy at RSMH. This study used descriptive observational research with a cross sectional approach. The samples of this study were all patients and medical records of stroke patients who underwent TMS therapy at RSMH in August - October 2024.This study found that the majority suffered from ischemic stroke (91.4%), had an acute onset (34.3%), were < 65 years old (68,6%) and were male (74.3%). The majority had clinical symptoms of hemiparese (74.3%). Most patients were treated with iTBS and cTBS techniques (54,3%). The conditions before therapy were 9 patients (25.7%) with no significant disability and 9 patients (25.7%) with severe disability while the conditions after therapy were 10 patients (28.6%) with no significant disability. Stroke patients who underwent TMS therapy at RSMH in the period August - October 2024 mostly suffered from ischemic stroke, had an acute onset, were <65 years old, male, had clinical symptoms of hemiparesis, and used iTBS and cTBS techniques. Before therapy, many patients had severe disability and no significant disability while after therapy more had no significant disability.
