Abstract
Complementary fooding are starting to be given to babies aged 6 months to fulfill mutritional needs. However, there are still cases of inappropriate Complementary feeding namely instant Complementary feeding which has lack. It is different if children are given local Complementary feeding which has various textures, aromas, and flavors. Inappropriate Complementary feeding is caused by the low level of Mothers' knowledge and self-efficacy. Efforts to improve mothers' knowledge and self-efficacy are through health education. This study aims to determine the effect of health education about local food-based Complementary feeding on mothers' knowledge and self-efficacy. This study used a pre-experimental design of one group pretest and posttest. The sample was selected using non-probability sampling with purposive sampling type. The mumber of samples were 30 mothers who had children aged 6-24 months in the Tanjung Batu Health Center working area. Data collection used a questionnaire instrument of knowledge and complementary feeding self-efficacy that had been tested for validity with a calculated r value> r table (r table 0.444) and Cronbach Alpha reliability >0.60. Data analysis used the Marginal Homogeneity test for knowledge and Mc Nemar for self-efficacy. The results showed that there was a difference in the level of mothers' knowledge at the pretest and posttest with a p value of 0.000 (p ≤0.05), while self-efficacy showed a difference at the pretest and posttest as evidenced by the p value of 0.001 (p ≤0.05). These results can be concluded that there was an effect of health education about local food-based complementary feeding on mothers' knowledge and self-efficacy. Providing health education using lecture methods, props, and PPT can be one of the efforts to increase mothers' knowledge and self-efficacy regarding the provision of local complementary feeding.
