Abstract

Tracheostomy is an action to maintain the airway so that it can enter the lungs and bypass the upper airway, by making a hole in the anterior wall of the trachea. A tracheal cannula is performed immediately after a tracheostomy to prevent air from passing through the larynx and vocal cords and prevent a person from producing sound. The tracheal cannula has an inner cannula that can be removed and cleaned to reduce the risk of blockage. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the characteristics of patients with tracheal cannula at RS Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This research is a descriptive observational study with a crosssectional design and a total sampling data collection technique using medical record data of patients with tracheal cannula at Mohammad Hosein Hospital in Palembang. The number of samples in this study was 171 subjects. Most patients with tracheal cannula were aged ≥ 60 years (38%), most gender was male (64.9%), most type of cannula was non-fenestrated (85.4%), most indication for tracheostomy was upper airway obstruction (66, 7%). (80.1%), no complications (90.1%), no complications (90.1%), and most treatment was complete treatment (100%). Most patients with tracheal cannula were found to be aged ≥ 60 years, the majority were men. The type of cannula most often used is a non-fenestrated cannula, with the main indication being airway obstruction. Tracheostomy procedures are most often performed electively with the cannula positioned in the middle. It was also found that the majority of patients had no comorbidities, no complications, and no complications. In addition, complete treatment of the tracheal cannula is carried out. Keywords: Characteristics, tracheostomy, tracheal cannula.
