Abstract

Purpose of this study was to study the suitability of land for rice plant (Oryza sativa) and red chili (Capsicum annum L.) on Pulokerto Village. This research was conducted in Pulokerto Village, Gandus District, Palembang City, South Sumatra Province in October 2018 until May 2019. Area of Study of ± 5 ha for determining the location of sampling is done by the grid method where one sample point represents an area of 0.5 ha so that the number of samples is 10 samples. Soil samples were taken at a depth of 0-20 cm from the ground. The variables observed include root conditions (soil drainage, soil texture and effective soil depth), nutrient retention nutrient (pH and soil CEC), nutrient availability (N-total, P2O5 and K2O). The results showed that the actual land suitability for rice plants at the location of this study contained 1 class, S3-f,n. The limiting factors include: nutrient retention (f), namely pH avaibility nutrient(n), namely P. There is 1 class of potential land suitability for rice plants in the study site. After considering the improvement of the land suitability to S1 (very suitable) with input lime, fertilizer. The actual land suitability for chili plants in the location of this study is 1 class namely S3-r,f. The limiting factors include:, root conditions (r) namely drainage and texture, nutrient retention (f), namely pH. The suitability of potential land for chili plants in the location of this study is 1 class. After considering the improvement of the land suitability to S2-t (quite appropriate with temperature limiting factors) with input drainage channels, lime, fertilizer.
