Abstract
Background. Endometriosis is a condition characterized by the presence of endometrium-like tissue outside the uterine cavity, which can induce a chronic inflammatory response. The most common clinical symptom observed in patients with endometriosis is pain, often manifesting as dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea refers to pain associated with menstruation. The onset of endometriosis can occur during adolescence, typically marked by the presence of dysmenorrhea. However, dysmenorrhea is often considered a normal occurrence during menstruation in females, which can delay diagnosis, treatment, and optimal outcomes. This study aims to examine the relationship between the stage of endometriosis and the clinical profile of dysmenorrhea in affected patients. Methods. This study employs an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional study format. Data analysis includes univariate and bivariate analyses to explore the relationship between the stage of endometriosis and the clinical profile of dysmenorrhea in patients. Results. Based on a sample of 78 patients, bivariate analysis using the Spearman test revealed no significant correlation between the stage of endometriosis (p=0.165) and the intensity of menstrual pain. The Spearman analysis also showed no significant relationship between the stage (p=0.144) and the duration of menstrual pain, as well as no correlation between the stage (p=0.969) and the onset time of menstrual pain in patients with endometriosis. Furthermore, there was no significant correlation between the stage (p=0.657) and the onset of menstrual pain in these patients. Conclusion. There is no association of disease stage with the intensity, duration, onset time, and onset of menstrual pain in patients with endometriosis. Keywords. Endometriosis, stage, dysmenorrhea, menstrual pain.
