Abstract

Background: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection that affects the human urinary system. Bacteria live in the urethra and colonize in the bladder, when urinating the bacteria will come out so that it does not have a negative impact on the body. A significant bacterial count of more than 100,000 cfu/ml is known as bacteriuria. Bacteriuria can be asymptomatic or symptomatic if there are clinical presentations of urinary tract infection. There was a significant relationship between storage symptoms, emptying symptoms, and postoperative symptoms with urinary disorders (p<0.05). Urinary disorders are one of the causes of UTI, but until now there has been no research for urinary tract infections in patients with pelvic organ prolapse. Methods: This study was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional cross-sectional design from September 17, 2024 to November 9, 2024. There were 50 out of 71 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The sampling method used total sampling technique. The entire data was analyzed using SPSS v27 in tabular form. Results: Individuals with age less than 60 years tended to be more prone to urinary tract infection (UTI) with a PR of 1.633 (95% CI: 0.533-5.003), although this result was not statistically significant (p-value = 0.563). Likewise, individuals with overweight and obese BMI had a higher risk of UTI (PR = 0.529; 95% CI: 0.171- 1.631), however this association was also not significant (p-value = 0.407). The risk of UTI in individuals with grade 2 and 3 POP was not significantly different from grade 4 (PR = 1.154; 95% CI: 0.377-3.529; p-value = 1.000). Finally, the risk of UTI in primiparous and multiparous was similar (PR = 0.920; 95% CI: 0.054- 15.575), with no significant association (p-value = 1.000). Conclusion: The results showed that although there was a trend towards an increased risk of UTI in individuals with age <60 years, overweight or obesity, POP degree 2-4, and multiparity, no statistically significant association was found. The p values for all variables were greater than 0.05, indicating that these factors were not significantly associated with the incidence of UTI in the sample studied.
