Abstract
Chaya is a leafy vegetable that is rich in nutrients and has many benefits. Causily the increased in chaya demand. In chaya cultivation, there are several factors that need to be considered, some of which are water and growing media. Water and growing media have a very important effect on growth and yield of chaya. This research was aimed to determine the best watering volume and growing media composition for growth and yield of chaya (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius). This research was conducted in the Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from June to September 2024. This research used Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) consisting of two factors. The first factor was watering volume approach consisting of three treatments, namely: C1 = 250 ml, C2 = 500 ml, C3 = 750 ml. While the second factor was growing media composition consisting of three treatments, namely: M1 = Top Soil, M2 = Top Soil : Chicken Manure (4 : 1), M3 = Top Soil : Goat Manure (4 : 1). There were total combination treatments with 3 replicates and 2 plants per unit resulting in total 54 plants. This research used polybags measuring 35 cm × 40 cm. The results showed that the best watering volume was 500 ml (C2) and the best growing media composition was goat manure (M3). It was then concluded that the application of manure could increase the soil's water holding capacity, resulting in better growth and yield of chaya.
