Abstract

The handling of victims who experience cardiac arrest outside the hospital by lay rescuers is still relatively low in various countries including Indonesia. One of the factors that causes the low handling of victims by lay rescuers due to the lack of knowledge about basic life support measures is cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Students are one of the lay rescuers who can provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but unfortunately students' knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation is still low. Increased knowledge can be achieved through health education. This study aims to determine the effect of health education with e-leaflet media on students' knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation compression only. This type of research is quantitative research with a one group pretest-posttest design. The number of samples were 50 respondents obtained by proportionate stratified random sampling. The average score before being given health education through e-leaflet media was 8.66 (SD = 3.18) and the average score increased to 14.58 (SD = 1.86) after being given health education through e-leaflet media. The result of the Wilcoxon test showed that there was an effect of health education with e-leaflet media on students' knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation compression only with a p-value = 0.000. E-leaflet media was effective in conveying information, as evidenced by the increase in students' knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation compression only through health education.
