Abstract

Nanosilica is silica with a nano size ranging from 1 to 100 nm, and it functions to enhance the compressive strength of concrete. Nanosilica can be produced through a synthesis process using fly ash. The material used in this study is fly ash. This research uses molarity variations of 1 molar, 2 molar, and 3 molar. In this study, microstructure testing is conducted to analyze the extraction results using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The results show that as the molarity increases, the resulting nano size becomes smaller. Based on the tests, it was found that the optimal molarity for the synthesis process is 3 molar, which produces an average crystal size of 12.14 nm, and at 2 molar, the crystalline content is 2.35%, while the amorphous content is 97.64%. However, the highest pure silica content at 3 molar is approximately 57%.
