Abstract

Production laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sriwijaya University, is a facility used for practical activities, research, and data collection. Along with the development of technology, an efficient system is needed to record and monitor the use of equipment in the production laboratory. The Instrument Usage Logbook application developed aims to replace manual logbooks with digital solutions, recording every use of the instrument accurately. This application records important information such as time and date of use, user identity, duration, and condition of the instrument before and after use. With these features, this application not only functions as a usage recorder, but also helps plan equipment maintenance, reduces the risk of errors or damage to equipment, and increases laboratory efficiency and productivity. This application is equipped with a device identification feature that uses QR Code to make it easier for technicians to carry out scheduled maintenance, document activities, and monitor device conditions efficiently. The research method used is the waterfall development model which includes literature studies, equipment and software preparation, display and database design, application development, testing and repair. The case study was conducted in the Production Laboratory. The expected results of this research are the creation of a management system that can improve maintenance efficiency, documentation technician actions, and facilitate monitoring of equipment conditions by the laboratory head, thereby supporting the sustainability of laboratory operations more optimally. It is hoped that this application can create a more organized, transparent, and safe management system in the use of production laboratory equipment.
