Abstract
The implementation of rainwater harvesting (RWH) could be one of the solutions to maximize water supply and reduce direct runoff in Palembang city. In order that implementation to be successful, it is necessary to identify potential areas for the implementation of RWH. This study uses a geographic information system (GIS) approach using parameters of slope, rainfall, soil type and land use which are arranged hierarchically using analytical hierarchy process (AHP). The results of the study using the weighted overlay method, a very potential area for the implementation of RWH is dominated by flat slope, dense settlement use and types of soil that are not sensitive to infiltration. Potential areas is dominated by a flat slope but the types of soil in the area are sensitive and very sensitive to infiltration. Whereas the medium and potential areas are dominated by steep and very steep slope and the land use that is not densely populated. The area is very potential and potential, each of which reaches a percentage of 34.09% 65.19% of the total percentage. Whereas the medium and non-potential areas are 0.70% and 0.02%. Sub-basins potential areas that have the largest percentage of area are Kidul, Sekanak, Buah and Bendung. The potential area is only found in a few areas in Borang, Gandus, Jakabaring and Nyiur sub-basins. Based on the analysis of the calculation of the potential of rainwater that can be accommodated, it shows that the larger the type of roof (catchment area), the more the amount of rainwater that could be accommodated. The estimation price for implementing RWH with a roof building should have to spent from the scale of Rp. 4,014,900.00 up to Rp. 6,503,700.00.
