Abstract

The water content of the soil is the ratio between the weight of moisture contained in the soil by the weight of the dry soil, in the soil water is at the soil pore space. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the application of absorption biopore holes by using organic waste to the soil moisture content in the rubber plantation of Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. This study was conducted in rubber plantation field trial and in the Laboratory of Physics and Soil Conservation, Soil Science Department, Faculty of Agriculture Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya. The method used in this research was a randomized block design method (RAK). Using the level of treatment that: P0 = Control (without biopore), P1 = biopore 30 cm depth, P2 = biopore 60 cm depth, P3 = biopore 90 cm depth, P4 = biopore 120 cm depth, each treatment was taken 9 samples with a distance of 20 cm , 40 cm, 60 cm from the biopore infiltration hole with depth 30 cm, 60 cm, 90 cm and 120 cm, the treatment was repeated 3 times. Variables observed were rainfall (mm) and a rainy day, infiltration, soil structure in the field and soil water content every week for 8 weeks. Biopore using organic waste significantly increases the moisture content of the soil on the observation of week 2, week 7 and week 8. Biopore significantly increase the moisture content of the soil at a distance of 20 cm, 40 cm and 60 cm. Biopore significantly increases the moisture content of the soil at a depth of 30 cm soil samples observed on week 8, 60 cm on week 7 and week 8, 90 cm on week 2 and week 8 and 120 cm on week 8.
