Abstract

Pegagan duck is a local duck from South Sumatra originating from Kotodaro Village, Rantau Panjang sub-district, Ogan Ilir Regency (OI). Pegagan duck is one of the birds that has the potential as a good egg producer to meet the protein needs of the community. Efforts to increase productivity can be done through the provision of feed supplements that are safe to use, namely probiotics. Good egg productivity can improve the physical quality of eggs. Probiotics can help produce digestive enzymes such as amylase, proteases and lipases that can increase the activity of digestive enzymes in the host's digestive tract so that it can increase nutrient reformation. If the work of the enzyme increases, the absorption of food substances will be better and the nutrients absorbed into the body of the animal will be more.This study aims to determine the physical quality of Gotu kola ducks by giving probiotics from silage with copper grass.This study was conducted from May to July in the experimental housing of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Laboratory of Animal Feed and Nutrition, Laboratory of Fishery Product Technology, Laboratory of Fishery Product Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Research design used was completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replicates. This research consisted of 5 treatments, namely: P0 (control), P1 (probiotics with concentration of 106); P2 (probiotics with concentration of 107); P3 (probiotics with a concentration of 108), and P4 (probiotics with concentration of 109). The variables observed included the egg yolk index, egg white index and haught unit. The results showed that probiotic administration of copper grass silage had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the yolk index, but had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the value of the egg white index and haught unit.The conclusion of this study is that probiotic administration of silage grass with copper found in gotu kola duck water has a significant effect on the yolk index value, but has not been able to give results that have a significant effect on the index value of egg whites and haught units.
