Abstract

Abstract Academic Learning Time in Physical Education (ALT-PE) is the active involvement of students in physical activities that are in accordance with the learning objectives of physical education. This study aims to analyze the academic learning time of Physical Education teachers in elementary schools in Plaju Sub-district before and after participating in Lesson Study and the effectiveness of the learning time applied. This action research involved 10 physical education teachers from 6 elementary schools with instruments in the form of video recordings of learning analyzed using the ALT-PE observation system (Siedentop et al., 1982). Data analysis was done descriptively quantitatively based on four categories: Activity (A), Manage (K), Instruction (I), and Wait (T). The results showed a significant increase in time allocation for academic activities (from 21% to 51%) and a decrease in time for classroom management (from 44% to 37%) and waiting time (from 24% to almost zero) after Lesson Study. Lesson Study was shown to improve learning effectiveness, instruction efficiency, and learners' learning experience. Keywords: Physical Education, ALT-PE, Lesson Study, Learning Effectiveness
