Abstract

The purposed of this research were to: (1) How is the difference between farming activities of oil palm farmers of local farmers and migrant farmers in Kunangan Jaya, Bungku Village, Bajubang Sub-district, Batanghari District, Jambi Province, (2) How much difference is the income of oil palm farming of local farmers with migrant farmers in Kunangan Jaya, Bungku Village, Bajubang Sub-district, Batanghari District, Jambi Province. The place and time of this research were carried out in Kunangan Jaya, Bungku Village, Bajubang Sub-district, Batanghari District, Jambi Province. The research method used in this study is the survey method. The sampling method used is the Disproportionate Stratified Random Sampling method. The total population of all 500 families as oil palm farmers, with layer 1 as many as 150 families as local farmers and 350 families as migrant farmers in Kunangan Jaya Hamlet, Bungku Village, with a sample of 30 local farmers and 30 migrant farmers. When collecting data, the method used is in the form of primary data and secondary data. The data obtained in the field will be processed mathematically and presented in tabulation and described descriptively. The results showed that oil palm farming activities carried out by local farmers and migrant farmers included land clearing or land pr eparation, maintenance, fertilization, harvesting, and collecting. The technology used by local farmers and migrant farmers is the same, local farmers and migrant farmers use short Mariah palm oil seedlings, for fertilizer immigrant farmers using Urea and SP36 fertilizers while migrant farmers use Urea and KCL fertilizers. Then for how to maintain, harvest, and collect both local farmers and migrants have the same method. The highest average level of total income is in the main job of oil palm farming. Migrant farmers have a higher income compared to local farmers, namely Rp20. 788.767 per year, while the income of migrant farmers is Rp 25.759.509 per year. Each of the main jobs of oil palm farming still makes a big contribution. Keywords: Local Farmers, and Peasant Farmer.
