Abstract

The objectives of the research were: 1) Describing farming patterns in Pangkul Village Cambai District Prabumulih City, 2) Comparing the differences of income from diversification of planting pattern of rubber land in Pangkul Village Cambai District Prabumulih City, 3) Analyzing the factors that influence farmers to apply diversification of planting pattern in Pangkul Village Cambai District Prabumulih City. This research was conducted in Pangkul Village Cambai Sub-District Prabumulih City on February 2019. Location selection was done intentionally. Sampling was carried out by disproportionate stratified random sampling. The samples taken in this study were 60 people out of 183 farmers. Methods of data collection were primary and secondary data. From the results of research, Farming cropping patterns in Pangkul Village consist of two farming planting patterns, namely planting patterns of rubber- vegetable farming and planting patterns of rubber-fruit farming. Vegetable commodities consist of chili, tomato, bitter melon, oyong, spinach, eggplant, kale, basil, long beans, and cucumber, while for fruit commodities consist of watermelon, pineapple and melon commodities. The income received by farmers for rubber-vegetable samples is an average of Rp. 36.335.718 per year while the income received by rubber farmers is Rp. 22.492.990 per year with a difference in income from the sample farmer of Rp. 13.842.728 per year. Significant factors influencing farmers' decision to make diversified cropping patterns, namely education and lengta of farming experience variables that significantly influence the decision of farmers to carry out diversified cropping patterns.
