Abstract

The main component of polyphenolic compounds in gambier sap extract is catechin, a flavonoid compound with anti-inflammatory properties that can help relieve inflammatory. Catechins have low solubility and bioavailability, resulting in its to deliver into the body. In this research, gambier sap extract was formulated using a drug delivery technology system in the form of Self-Nano Emulsion system (SNEs) which can increase the solubility and bioavailability of gambier sap extract. Extraction using the maceration method with extract characterization using LC-HRMS, formula optimization design for SNEs preparations, making SNEs preparations, characterization of SNEs using pH, viscosity tests, determination of droplets, organoleptics, water emulsification time test, SIF emulsification time test, SGF emulsification time test, transmittance value test, standardization results of the ethanol extract of gambier sap, dark brown in color. Typical aroma of the extract and thick shape. Standardization of gambier sap extract obtained a yield percentage of 17.3%. Based on the results of testing gambir latex extract samples using LC-HRMS, 200 compounds were obtained with one of the highest area percentages, namely catechin. The optimum formula for SNEs is 80 mg gambier sap extract, 2.5% sacha inchi oil, 67.5% Tween 80®, and 30% propylene glycol. Changes in this composition can affect the characteristics of SNEs, such as particle size, polydispersity index, and zeta potential. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate and characterize SNEs to determine the optimal effect of variations in this component. The characterization of the optimum formula obtained by the SLD method was a viscosity of 50.37 cP, particle size of 11.25 nm, PDI of 0.127, and zeta potential of -12.1 mV.
