Abstract
This study aimed to know about effect of the best Saccharomyces cerevisiae Supplementation that was added the ration based rice straw to the Degradability and total VFA concentration at swamp buffalo by in vitro technique. The study was done at September until November 2014 in Nutrition and Animal Feed Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University. The experimental design used Completely Randomized Design (CRD), and continue with Duncan’s Multi Range Test (DNMRT). The study used 5 treatments and 3 replications: R0 (control diet); R1 (S. cerevisiae supplementation of 2.5g/head/day); R2 (S. cerevisiae supplementation of 5.0 g/head/day); R3 (S. cerevisiae supplementation of 7.5 g/head/day); and R4 (S. cerevisiae supplementation of 10 g/head/day). Diet contained 80% rice straw and 20% concentrate. Parameters observed were dry matter degradibility, organik matter degradibility, and VFA concentration. The result of this study showed that Saccharomyces cerevisiae supplementation on the ration based rice straw ware significantly (P<0,05) influence dry matter degradibility, organik matter degradability, and VFA concentration. The supplementation by 5.0 g level on the ration based rice straw was the best level by 48.99% dry matter degradibility, 47.47% organik matter degradability, and 83.06 mM VFA concentration. The conclution of study showed that on the 5.0 g level was the best Saccharomyces cerevisiae supplementation on the ration based rice straw.
