Abstract

PT Bukit Asam Tbk is one of the state-owned companies engaged in the coal mining sector centered in the Tanjung Enim area, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. The research location is at the Air Laya Mine, precisely at the TSBC Pit where mining uses an open pit method using loading and transport equipment such as Dump Trucks and Excavator Backhoes. When the observation was carried out in January, there was heavy rain with high rainfall, causing the water reservoir to almost exceed the limit. The total discharge of water entering the pit was 104,393 m3/day which came from runoff and groundwater discharge. Therefore, a sump was planned that could accommodate water entering the pit with a sump surface length and width of 127 meters, a sump base length and width of 111 meters, a sump depth of 8 meters, and a slope of 45˚. So that the planned sump volume can accommodate 113,800 m3 of water. The pump used to remove water from the sump is the MF420E pump with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) pipe. The pump can discharge 700 m3/hour of water with a total head of 13.88 m and output a pump power of 128.61 KW. With an incoming water discharge of 104,393 m3/day, the number of pump units planned to discharge water from the pit is 5 units.
