Abstract
Climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) is a freshwater fish that is able to live in swamp waters or other stagnant waters with low dissolved oxygen conditions. Aquaponics is a cultivation technique that combines vegetables and fish simultaneously. The main problem of this system is the suitable raft dimension that play an important role in providing oxygen for fish. This research aimed to examine the dimensions of floating rafts which is most suitable for climbing perch and lettuce with aquaponic system. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consists of four treatments and three replications. The treatments were the difference in the percentage of dimension area of the floating raft relative to the surface area of the pond, which consisted of 64% (P1), 36% (P2), 16% (P3), and 4% (P4). The result showed that the best treatment was a cover percentage of 36% of the pond surface area (floating raft dimension 60 cm x 60 cm on 1 m2 fish pond) (P2) with dissolved oxygen 5.00-7.33 mg L-1, temperature 28.67-29.18 oC, pH 6.84-7.46, ammonia 0.019-0.278 mg L-1, nitrite 0.099-2.413 mg L-1, nitrate 7.94-22.50 mg L-1, absolute growth of weight 1.39 g, absolute growth of length 1.70 cm and survival rate 92%.
