Abstract
Lightweight bricks are currently widely used for making walls and partitions in urban buildings. The quality of lightweight bricks is influenced by several factors, including weight, water absorption, and breaking strength. This study aims to study the best volume of foam agent for making Cellular Lightweight Concrete. This study uses an experimental method with a Randomized Block Design (RBD) pattern consisting of 5 treatment levels, namely P1 (8.5 ml foam agent), P2 (10 ml), P3 (11.5 ml), P4 (13 ml), and P5 (14.5 ml), each treatment was repeated 3 times. The parameters analyzed were Weight, water absorption and fracture strength. Data were analyzed using the F-Test, BNT Test and continued with correlation and regression analysis. The results of the diversity analysis showed that the foam agent volume treatment affected the weight, water absorption and fracture strength of lightweight bricks. Overall, the weight of lightweight bricks was negatively correlated with the foam agent volume and showed a polynomial relationship. Water absorption was positively correlated with the foam agent volume and showed a positive non-linear polynomial relationship expressed by the equation Wa = 0.321fa2 -3.2498fa + 28.726. Then the fracture strength was negatively correlated with the foam agent volume and showed a positive linear relationship with the equation σf = -4.1969fa + 89.835. The treatment of 10 ml foam agent volume (P2) produces the best lightweight brick based on considerations of weight, absorption and fracture strength for lightweight bricks with dimensions (LxWxH) 60 cm x 20 cm x 10 cm. In the manufacture of lightweight bricks with good physical and mechanical quality, it is necessary to add 10 ml of foam agent. However, it is still necessary to pay attention to the recommendations given by each trademark. Keywords : Cellular Lighweight Concrete, Foam Agent, Fracture Strength, Water Absortion.
