Abstract
Background: One of the key global targets is to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic as a public health threat by 2030. However, Indonesia, particularly in South Sumatra Province, faces significant challenges in achieving the Triple 95s target. Viral load testing is a critical indicator in the management of antiretroviral therapy (ART), assessing the therapy's effectivenesss and reducing the risk of complications. Factors such as treatment adherence, therapy duration, and demographic characteristics also influence viral load outcomes. This study aims to identify factors associated with viral load to support HIV control efforts in South Sumatra Province. Methods: The study design of this research was a cross-sectional study with data analysis using chi square and binominal logitstic regression tests. The populastion in this study was all HIV patient who accessed health services for Viral Load testing. Data sources were obtained from HIV/AIDS Information System (SIHA) for th priode 2023 – June 2024. Results and Discussion: The study found significant relationships between viral load suppression and adherence to ART (p-value = 0.024; PR 1.349; 95% CI: 1.039–1.750), age (p-value < 0.000; PR 1.812; 95% CI: 1.315–2.497), duration of ART (p-value = 0.033; PR 1.997; 95% CI: 1.058–3.770), and clinical stage (p-value < 0.000; PR 1.576; 95% CI: 1.256–1.978). These findings underscore the importance of factors such as age, ART duration, and clinical stage in supporting ART adherence, thereby improving clinical outcomes, including achieving suppressed viral load as an indicator of successful treatment. Conclusion: HIV viral load levels among PLHIV undergoing ART in South Sumatra Province are influenced by factors such as age, ART adherence, therapy duration, and clinical stage.
