Abstract

Long beans (Vigna sinensis L.) are one of the leguminous crops. Long beans are one of the plants of the fabaceae family. The main diseases found in long beans are Bean Common Mosaic Virus (BCMV) and Mungbean Yellow Mosaic Virus (MYMV). Pesticides are toxic chemicals widely used to enhance agricultural production by reducing damage from pests and diseases. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between pesticide use compliance scores on long bean crops and to identify the percentage and intensity of pest and disease attacks found on long bean plants. This research was conducted using survey and interview methods with farmers, followed by field observations of the interviewed farmers' fields. The study started in September and will continue through 2024, followed by scoring to determine compliance scores, which are then categorized, and continued with field observations to assess the population, intensity of pest and disease attacks, predator populations, and neutral insects, all of which were recorded. After all the data were collected, data analysis was performed. The highest total species count was 2,274 insects. The most dominant pest insect was Aphis gossypii. The most dominant predator insect was Anoplolepis gracilipes. The highest diversity index was 1.96, classified as moderate. The highest dominance index was 0.84, and the evenness index was 2.82. The average pesticide compliance score on long bean crops was 422.1. The highest percentage of Bemisia tabaci was 58%. The highest intensity of Nezara viridula was 27.5%. The highest percentage of Cercospora sp. was 96%, and the highest intensity of Cercospora sp. was 53.5%.
