Abstract
Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is one of the sources of vegetable oil which is a primary and superior agricultural commodity in Indonesia. Oil palm has an important position in the agricultural sector because its main product Crude palm oil and its derivatives become a large trade commodity for Indonesia and the largest foreign exchange contributor in the plantation sector. One of the obstacles in oil palm plantations is stem base rot disease caused by Ganoderma boninense. This disease causes huge losses for palm oil entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Control of this stem base rot of oil palm, until now there has been no success. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cardamom root exudate on the growth of Ganoderma boninense, changes in media tannin color and EC pH on MEA + Tannin media. This research was conducted at the Phytopathology Laboratory and Greenhouse, Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya in May until completion. This research was conducted in the phytopathology laboratory with in vitro testing using MEA + Tannin media. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatment concentrations, namely 0%, 1.25% and 5% with 5 replicates. This study used 5 samples of cardamom root exudate, namely LG1, LG3, LGH2, LGH3, and LGHS7. The results of in vitro testing on MEA + tannin media using five cardamom root exudates that have been carried out, show the results of inhibiting and no inhibition on the growth of Ganoderma boninense. The highest inhibition was found in the Pangandaran LGH2 hybrid cardamom root exudate at a concentration of 5% with an inhibition of 52.7%, but in this exudate the concentration of 1.25% did not inhibit the growth of Ganoderma boninense but increased the growth of Ganoderma boninense by 24.1%. The second highest inhibition was found in the Pangandaran LGH3 hybrid cardamom root exudate, which at 5% concentration inhibited 40.6% and at 5% concentration inhibited 29%. G. boninense colonies also showed different color area changes in MEA + tannin caused by differences in the concentration of cardamom root exudate and differences in compounds contained in cardamom root exudate. EC values were lower in all concentrations which caused the colonies to not get enough nutrients to grow. and pH did not affect significantly.
