Abstract

The research using doses of ethanol extract from agarwood leaves has been conducted to determine its potential as an analgesic effect on mice. The method employed was an experimental design with a Completely Randomized Design, utilizing 25 male mice and five treatment doses: 0 mg/20 g body weight, 0.7 mg/20 g body weight, 1.4 mg/20 g body weight, 2.8 mg/20 g body weight, and mefenamic acid 1.3 mg/20 g body weight. The data on the activity of the mice were analyzed using variance analysis and Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). The results indicated the highest reduction in activity at the dose of 2.8 mg/20 g body weight, which was 16.8 times, with the highest analgesic percentage of 76.47%. Variance analysis revealed that the ethanol extract from agarwood leaves had a significant effect on reducing activity. The DNMRT test showed that the effective dosage of the extract in decreasing activity and providing the greatest analgesic effect was at a concentration of 140%. In conclusion, the ethanol extract from agarwood leaves has potential as an analgesic. The results of this study are useful as supplementary material for the high school biology curriculum for grade XI, phase F, on the Coordination System according to the Learning Outcomes of the Merdeka Curriculum, allowing students to understand cells, biological processes, and the relationships between organ systems in responding to stimuli. This also enhances students' investigative science skills. Keywords: mice (Mus musculus L.), agarwood leaf extract, analgesic, decreased number of wriggles.
