Abstract

Bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria) is one of the Cucurbitaceae plant that is widely grown in Southeast Asia. This plant has many uses for both food and medicine. In bottle gourd crops, there are several species of arthropods, each of which has a role in the ecosystem. However, in bottle gourd cultivation, farmers use synthetic pesticides to deal with pests. The adverse impact of pesticides is that they have a negative impact on the environment and kill non-target insects so that the balance of the agricultural ecosystem is disturbed. This study aims to see the diversity after water treatment as control, biopesticide (Melia azedarach), and synthetic pesticide (emamectin benzoate). Based on the diversity index analysis, all treatments had different diversity indices. In the control treatment, the Simpson index value =0.322675, Shannon index =1.796, Margalef=3.1035, and Pielou index =0.61525, where this value shows that the control treatment has higher diversity and species richness than the treatment with biopesticides and pesticides. From Pielou's Index (Equitability J), synthetic pesticide treatment had the highest mean value (0.6303), followed by control (0.6153) and biopesticide (0.5443). This indicates that the uniformity of species distribution is higher in the control and synthetic pesticide than biopesticide. This study confirms that biopesticides can be a more environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic pesticides, although the control continues to have the most positive impact on insect biodiversity.
