Abstract

The oil palm commodity is a major plantation producer that has many roles in the economic development of Indonesia. However, there are obstacles that result in low productivity of oil palm plants. The cause of stem base rot disease occurs due to the attack of the fungal pathogen Ganoderma boninense. If not immediately controlled and prevented, the disease can cause significant losses and can reduce the yield of quality and quantity of oil palm plants. The use of black turmeric plant exudates as an alternative to stem base rot disease control is thought to affect the growth of G. boninense. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of black turmeric plant exudates on the growth of G. boninense and changes in tannin color, EC and pH of MEA+tannin media. This research was conducted in vitro at the Phytopathology Laboratory. In vitro testing was carried out using MEA + tannin media added to various black turmeric plant exudates. In this research experiment there were 8 black turmeric exudates consisting of KH1 26, KH1 27, KH2 26, KH2 27, KHB1, KHB2, KHRG3, and KHRG4. In addition, this experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments as many as five replicates. The treatments used included the use of black turmeric exudate with concentrations of 0%, 1.25%, 5%, and 20%. In vitro variables observed included colony diameter measurements, growth speed and growth inhibition values, tannin color change scores and EC and pH measurements. Based on the tests carried out, a total of 8 black turmeric plant exudates showed that the growth of G. boninense was not inhibited, which means that there is no effect on the exudate or allelopathy is positive. There are three samples of black turmeric plant exudates namely KH2 26, KH2 27, and KHB1 which inhibit tannin oxidation. The inhibition in each exudate sample depends on how much concentration is used. In addition, the other five exudates namely KH1 26, KH1 27, KHB2, KHRG3, and KHRG4 did not affect tannin oxidation. Three exudate samples namely KH1 27, KH2 26, and KHB1 showed that they were affected by different EC values depending on the concentration. The pH values were almost all not affected by black turmeric exudates.
