Abstract

The research was aimed to determine the role of religious coping towards psychological well-being. The major hypothesis in this research that there was the role of self-directing, deffering and collaborative religious coping towards psychological well-being. The minor hypothesis were 1) there was role of self-directing religious coping toward, 2) there was role of deferring religious coping toward psychological well-being, 3) there was role of collaborative religious coping toward psychological well-being. The population of the research was Muslim physical disabilities in Palembang. The sample was 100 respondents and try out sample was 30 respondents. This study used purposive sampling. Religious coping and psychological well being was measured by the scale which refers to the types of religious coping by Pargament et al (1998) and dimension of psychological well-being by Ryff (1989). The data was analyzed by using multiple regression analysis The result of major hypothesis shows that there was the role of self-directing, deffering and collaborative religious coping towards psychological well-being, with p-value= 0,000 (p<0,05), R= 0,639, R adjusted= 0,389, F= 22,039. The minor hypothesis result shows that 1) there was no role of self-directing towards psychological well-being with beta value= 0,326 and p-value= 0,176 (>0,05), 2) there was no role of deferring religious coping towards psychological well-being with beta value= 0,441 and p-value= 0,119 (>0,05), 3) there was role of collaborative religious coping towards psychological well-being, with beta value= 0,340 and p-value= 0,000 (p<0,05). It proved that the hypothesis were accepted.
