Abstract

Bitter ginger (Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoe ex Sm.) is one of the Zingiberaceae plants that has long been used by the Indonesian people for medicine and cooking spices. One of the biofertilizers that can be used in the propagation of bitter ginger is Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR). The long harvest time makes the production of bitter ginger take quite a long time to cultivate. The use of PGPR in Zingiberaceae has been carried out on red ginger and white turmeric. This study is needed to determine the effect of variations in PGPR concentration on the growth of bitter ginger rhizomes. The study was conducted from February to October 2024. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 repetitions. The research data were analyzed using ANOVA. If the results have a significant effect, it is continued with the Duncan test at a level of 5%. The conclusion of the study is that variations in PGPR concentration have an effect on increasing growth in bitter ginger rhizomes. The PGPR concentration of 175 ppm showed the best results for the parameters of shoot height and tiller height, while the concentration of 225 ppm showed an average growth in the number of tillers, number of roots, and root length that was better than without PGPR.
