Abstract
This study aims to analyze the income and welfare level of salted fish processing businesses in Kampung Siabang, Seberang Ulu I District, Palembang City. The research was conducted using a survey method from September to November 2024, with a total of 20 respondents involved. The study has the following objectives: 1) To describe how business owners in Kampung Siabang acquire the raw materials for salted fish production. 2) To analyze the income generated from the salted fish processing business in Kampung Siabang. 3) To analyze the welfare level of households involved in salted fish processing in Kampung Siabang. The findings reveal that the salted fish production process in Kampung Siabang remains traditional, and the businesses face challenges in ensuring a consistent supply of raw materials due to seasonal availability. Despite this, the income generated from salted fish processing plays a significant role in supporting the livelihood of local households. However, the income does not always meet the households' basic needs, affecting the overall welfare. The welfare level analysis, based on the indicators from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), indicates that many households in Kampung Siabang fall into the "pre-welfare" category, suggesting that there is still room for improvement in their economic conditions.
