Abstract

Background: Indonesia is still in trouble with the nutritional status of children, especially stunting. Stunting not only has an impact related to the low level of intelligence of human resources but also has an impact and affect the country's economic development. Many things that influence the occurrence of stunting include physiological, social, infectious diseases, health behavior and parenting, one of which is the maternal mental health. This study aims to analyze the correlation between characteristic that include maternal age, mother's marriage age, number of children, exclusive breastfeeding history, mother's education, mother's work, economic status and maternal mental health with stunting incidence in children aged 6-59 months in Tuah Negeri Musi District Rawas. Method: Research was conducted in the working area of the Air Beliti Health Center, Tuah Negeri District, Musi Rawas Regency, with the cross sectional method. The number of respondents is 115 mothers who have children aged 6-59 months. The selection of respondents in a consecutive sampling. Characteristic data obtained through a questionnaire. Stunting is measured based on TB/U or PB/U. Maternal mental health is measured by the SRQ-20 questionnaire. Data analysis using the Chi-Square test and double logistics regression. Results: The mother's age of marriage is a dominant factor influencing the incidence of stunting in children in Tuah Negeri District, Musi Rawas Regency with a p-value of 0.015 with a PR value of 4.066, 95% CI (1.311-12.609) which means that mothers who marry at the age of <20 years have a 4.066 times greater risk of experiencing stunting compared to children with mothers who marry at the age of >20 years after controlling for the variables of exclusive breastfeeding history and maternal mental health variables. Conclusion: The mother's age of marriage is the most dominant factor in the incidence of stunting in children aged 0-59 months in Tuah Negeri District, Musi Rawas Regency.
