Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a grain crop that belongs to the Poaceae family and is one of the main sources of carbohydrates for people in various parts of the world, especially in Asia. It grows optimally in tropical areas with hot climate and high rainfall, and requires good water management, especially in flooded wetland farming systems. Paddy rice is an important commodity and its production must be increased. However, the production of paddy rice in Indonesia still experiences several obstacles, such as low productivity, limited production factors and relatively low purchase prices to farmers. The objectives of this research are: 1). Analyzing the influence of production factors and the Government Purchase Price on farmers rice production in Air Satan Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency, 2). Calculating the amount of income of rice farmers in Air Satan Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency, 3). Analyzing the preparations made by farmers in participating in the food estate program in Air Satan Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency. Based on the result of the study, the result of the first objective were obtained, namely that farmers rice production result greatly influence by production factors such as land area, seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, labor and land ownership status in the form of leades land. For the second objective, namenly calculating the income of rice farmers, an income of Rp18.864.372 was obtained in the first panting season, then in the second palnting season the income of rice farmers decreased to Rp15.981.394 because some farmers experienced pest attacks in the second season so that their production result decreased. For the readiness of farmers to follow the food estate program in Air Satan Village from the results of the research obtained the results of farmers not ready to follow the food estate program, this is due to the absence of an introduction to the food estate program to farmers both from the head of the food estate program corporation and from agricultural extension workers in Air Satan Village.
