Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) To describe the conditions of oil palm farming in Mekar Jaya Village, Keluang District, (2) To calculate the level of income of oil palm farmers in Mekar Jaya Village, Keluang District, (3) To analyze the factors that influence the income of oil palm farmers in Mekar Jaya Village, Keluang District. The method used in this study is the survey method. The study was conducted in March 2024 with 39 respondents from a population of 300 independent oil palm farmers in Mekar Jaya Village. The sampling method used in this study was the Random sampling method. The data collected were primary data and secondary data. The data processing method used quantitative descriptive analysis by conducting direct interviews and using mathematical calculations and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study showed that: (1) Oil palm farming is the main source of income for most people in Mekar Jaya Village. On average, farmers have oil palm land of 2 hectares (Ha), with an average plant age of 17 years. Types of fertilizers commonly used include Urea, NPK, KCL, TSP 46, and Dolomite. Meanwhile, for pest and weed control, farmers use pesticides and herbicides such as Gramoxone, Ally, and Roundup. (2) The average income of oil palm farmers in Mekar Jaya Village reaches Rp. 18,241,692 per hectare per year. (3) The income of oil palm farmers is influenced by several factors, namely FFB Price, Land Area, Production Costs, FFB Production, Type of Fertilizer, and Labor. The results of the analysis show that simultaneously, the six variables have a significant influence on the income of oil palm farmers. However, in reality only five variables have a significant influence, namely FFB Price, Land Area, Production Costs, Type of Fertilizer and Labor.
